Pair of Georgian Revival Hepplewhite-Style Armchairs (c. 1890-1920)

Pair of Georgian Revival Hepplewhite-Style Armchairs (c. 1890-1920) Pair of Georgian Revival Hepplewhite-Style Armchairs (c. 1890-1920) Chairs

A well-matched pair of antique Georgian Revival armchairs in the Hepplewhite style, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. These are classic “carver” chairs, originally designed as the end chairs of a dining set.

Each chair features a shaped top rail with a central pierced splat in a fan motif, flanked by gently tapered uprights. The swept arms are supported by turned balusters, and the chairs sit on slender legs joined by stretchers. The proportions are elegant and restrained, typical of Hepplewhite-inspired design.

The frames show consistent wear and patina, particularly to the arms and top rails, reflecting age and regular use. Both chairs are structurally solid. The seats are drop-in and have been reupholstered in a neutral fabric, making them immediately usable while still allowing for easy future reupholstery if desired.

A versatile pair that would work well as occasional chairs, hallway pieces, or as end chairs at a dining table.
