Fabulous Price and Kensington Mid Century Tall Coffee Pot in the Victoria Pattern, Caramel Brown Glaze Fabulous Price and Kensington Mid Century Tall Coffee Pot in the Victoria Pattern, Caramel Brown Glaze Ceramics

I have more items to list as I preparing to put my collections into storage and not everything will fit unfortunately! I have a few items surplus to my coffee pot collection, and this is one of them.

For sale here is a Fabulous Price and Kensington Mid Century Tall Coffee Pot in the Victoria Pattern, Caramel Brown Glaze.

With more than a passing nod to the 1960’s design classic, Portmeirion's Totem, ( a pattern that combined a modern shape with patterns rooted in ancient cultures), this pattern called Victoria by P&K, is also a combination of a modern shaped teapot with patterns derived from times past.

In 1962, the pottery manufacturing companies of Price Bros. Ltd and Kensington Pottery Ltd were merged to make one company: Price & Kensington Potteries Ltd, otherwise known as P&K. They went on to become prolific manufacturers of everyday earthenware, tea and coffee sets, novelties and souvenirs. Up to 2003 all the ware was made in England. This was one of their early designs from the 1960’s

The glazing process highlights the raised patterns in a startling way and the glaze is in a fabulous warm caramel brown. The relief pattern features rows of shark tooth type motifs, interspaced with rows of small donuts. The handle and spout have a series of lines. This marriage of modern shapes with patterns from traditional culture and times past was very popular in the 1960’s and 70’s.

The coffeepot is in very good vintage condition for something dating to the 1960/70’s, with no chips, or cracks just some age-related crazing in the glaze.

The coffee pot is tall and stands at it stands just under 10 inches/ 25 cm tall including the lid, and measures roughly 7 inches/ 18 cm from spout to handle.

There are very few examples of this pattern online, but I did find one mis-matched coffee pot and one teapot, and I have included photos of their listings for the price comparison. See the last two photos.
