Vintage Art Nouveau Style Hand Painted and stained glass Glass Panel
This is a large hand-painted stained glass and painted panel, a reproduction of Alphonse Mucha's Art Nouveau work "Autumn". This one was done in the 70's.
It can be used as a wall hanging or an interior insert for a door or furniture piece.
The design is characteristic of Mucha's style, featuring a playful nymph wearing a wreath of chrysanthemums in her long auburn hair, sitting amidst falling leaves and holding a bunch of grapes. The original artwork was designed in 1896 as one of a series called The Seasons. Mucha's panels also bear some resemblance to Japanese woodcuts. Indeed, Mucha was influenced by Japanese art, like many other 19th- and 20th-century European artists. I have the other seasons coming soon.
The panel features a vibrant color palette, with warm yellows and oranges dominating the background. It has metal loops at the top for hanging as a decorative piece of home decor.
The piece uses the bold outlines and organic lines typical of Art Nouveau.
The original work has been reproduced in various mediums, including posters, tiles, and painted glass panels like this one. Picture is done with protruding lead lines similar to stained glass.
Alfonse Maria Muscha (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. Living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, he was widely known for his distinctly stylised and decorative theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt. He produced illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, as well as designs, which became among the best-known images of the period.
In good vintage condition with minor paint loss at few places.
