Original WW1 German Stahlhelm, Finnish Contract, SE (Sachsische Emaillier) Militaria
An original German-produced M18 steel helmet shell, manufactured in the closing months of the First World War and later acquired by Finland during the inter-war period.
The shell was produced by Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G., one of the primary late-war manufacturers. This maker later simplified their marking to “SE” during the Second World War period. The helmet retains its original German WWI shell with correct M18 cut-out skirt and rolled edge.
Following German surplus sales after WWI, large quantities of M16 and M18 helmets were purchased by Finland for reissue. These saw continued service during the Winter War (1939–40) and Continuation War. As typical of Finnish service helmets, this example was refurbished - Repainted in Finnish field grey/green. Finnish replacement liner installed. Finnish replacement chinstrap fitted
The shell shows honest service wear, with scattered finish loss and age consistent with period use.
