Vintage 1979 Marshall/Park 50 Watt Valve Guitar Combo Amplifier
Rare Marshall manufactured 1979 Park 50 watt 1x12” combo, model 1238. Although it says “BASS” on the front this makes a killer guitar amp. The EQ section is similar to that on the JCM800 bass head with a sweep control for the midrange. Other tone controls are the customary Bass and Treble plus an Upper-Mid Boost and Edge (presence) controls. High and low level inputs. The 12” speaker is housed in an unported enclosure.
Condition is very good for its age with only a few small tears in the levant covering and the grille cloth is intact although missing the Park logo (I cannot see any sign of it ever having one). The knobs are a matching set but I’m not sure if they are original to the amp as they are different to those on other Park amps of the era.
The amp is fitted with a pair of Mazda EL34 power tubes and a pair of ECC83s in the pre-amp, all of which I take to be original. Drake transformers and choke are fitted, exactly the same ones as fitted in Marshall 50s of the period. The inspection label clearly shows the model designation and date.
This is a rare opportunity to get one of Marshall’s lesser known and rarest amps. I am happy for prospective buyers to come and try the amp in person. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.
