This is an anthology from the early fifties featuring very fine chanteys and songs of the field, evoking different elements of the American experience, both celebratory and unjust. The artists include Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Lee Hayes.

Deep Sea Chanteys and Whaling Ballads/Sod Buster Ballads are two albums recorded then combined for release as a 1941 album by the Almanac Singers. The lineup of the group at the time was Millard Lampell, Lee Hays, Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. This album is undated but possibly late 40s early 50s. On Commodore label FL 30,002.
