Vintage Authentic Paul Jobin

A very fortunate watch lot find!

Offered for sale is a beautifully preserved vintage Swiss wristwatch by Paul Jobin, a historic watchmaker based in Porrentruy in the Jura region of Switzerland.

Paul Jobin was founded around 1889 by Paul-Célestin-Constant Jobin and remained active from the late 19th through the mid-20th century. The firm produced reliable Swiss mechanical watches, positioned in the mid-range market rather than the high-luxury segment. Paul Jobin was also closely associated with the Flora brand, which became its most widely exported trademark. Like many traditional Swiss manufacturers, the company later moved operations to Bienne, but declined during the major structural changes in the watch industry and ultimately disappeared by the early 1990s.

This example dates to the pre-war / early wartime period and displays classic Swiss design of the era.

Dial: Original silvered dial with applied Arabic numerals

Hands: Original gilt leaf hands

Seconds: Small seconds at 6 o’clock

Movement: Swiss manual-wind FHF 70 (Fabrique d’Horlogerie de Fontainemelon), a respected and robust workhorse movement

Case: Stainless steel with snap back, reference 1171

Signature: “Paul Jobin – Porrentruy” on dial, “Swiss Made” at 6 o’clock

Strap: Modern blue leather strap (not original)

Condition & Performance:

The watch has just been serviced and is running very well.

Timegrapher readings show:

Amplitude: ~290–308°

Beat Error: ~0.2 ms

Rate: Approximately +8 s/day (dial down) and –20 s/day (dial up)

These figures are excellent for a watch of this age and indicate a healthy movement with strong balance amplitude and stable performance.

This is an honest, original example of pre-WWII Swiss horology from a lesser-known but historically significant maker. A charming, wearable vintage watch that combines regional Swiss history, classic aesthetics, and dependable mechanical performance.
