Rolex GMT-Master II Rootbeer - 16713

Rolex GMT-Master II Rootbeer - 16713 Rolex GMT-Master II Rootbeer - 16713 Vintage
€12,400

In summary: A fabulous example of one of the most important vintage and increasingly hard-to-find Rolex GMT Masters.

The GMT-Master II is one of Rolex's most iconic models, and was originally designed for Pan Am pilots in the 1950s. This example is a reference 16713 - it was introduced in 1989 and remained in production until 2006.

This watch is commonly referred to as the “Root Beer” or “Tiger Eye” thanks to its beautiful sunburst dial, which reflects beautifully in sunlight. Please refer to my photos, which I took from multiple angles to showcase this intricacy.

This pre-ceramic 16713 Root Beer features a beautiful brown sunburst dial, lively metallic brown and gold bezel, and a two-tone bracelet.

This particular watch features an N serial number which dates its production to 1991, meaning it is one of the earliest examples to be delivered in this reference's production run.

The GMT-Master II reference 16713 replaced the preceding 16753 and features a 40mm Oyster case and aluminium bezel, and is fitted with a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on top of the dial rather than the acrylic crystal used on the 16753.

The 16713 is powered by the updated Caliber 3185. This movement boasts a 28,800vph/bph frequency, full balance bridge, Kif shock protection, variable-inertia Microstella balance, 50-hour power reserve, and an independently adjustable jumping hour hand, allowing you to track up to three time zones at once, an improvement on the outgoing reference.

This watch is in brilliant condition. Being a 1991 model, it has tritium lume indices, which is confirmed by the “Swiss T<25” text below 6 o’clock. The “Root Beer” metallic brown and gold aluminium bezel insert is immaculate and very attractive. The original steel and gold Jubilee bracelet is also in superb condition, as it was recommissioned/tightened (but not polished) a year ago to remove the bracelet sag which is present on most Jubilee bracelets from this era. This greatly improves the wearability of the watch, makes it safer to wear, and increases the watch’s longevity, all without subtracting from its originality or charm.

It was authenticated and pressure tested, which it passed, by Pride and Pinion recently and is running very well and accurately.

The watch comes with its outer box, inner box, pillow, Rolex GMT-Master manual, Rolex Official Chronometer Certification booklet, Rolex wallet, Rolex calendar card, and original swing tag.

Fantastic opportunity to acquire a stunning and increasingly rare watch in fabulous condition with impressive delivery contents.

In summary: A fabulous example of one of the most important vintage and increasingly hard-to-find Rolex GMT Masters.
