Lovely MZ ES 150/1 Trophy 2 Stroke for sale. Fully restored by a MZ expert with 40 years experience. 1975 but really a 50s design.

HISTORY

MZ were the king of 2 stroke bikes. Made in East Germany their bikes were superbly built and fast. They took over and improved on the legacy created by DKW after WW2. Their bikes reigned supreme in world racing during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. In 1961 their top rider Ernst Degner defected to Japan and with the know how he provided, enabled Suzuki to win their first ever world championship the following year. Honda spent millions trying to create 4 stroke bikes that could compete with MZ and he couldn’t do it. The speed that MZ bikes created used resonance and expansion chambers never seen before and the research came from Hitlers V1/V2 rocket technology.

Their bikes used a lot of aluminium parts , which kept weight down yet increased strength. The detail on this bike and build quality needs to be seen to be appreciated. It has also been superbly painted.
The asking price doesn’t justify the parts cost alone. These bikes have a cult following worldwide with clubs and great parts availability.
