This book,translated from the French,is divided into two distinct parts.
The first part deals with the authors travels as a geologist with Captain Cousteau in the Calypso during its voyage down the Red Sea to investigate the islands there and the sea bed.
The second part details the authors travels in central Africa to the Nyiragongo volcano and lakes Tanganyika and Rudolf.
Very well written with excellent descriptions, contains some anti British rhetoric.
