Nike Air Trainer 1 gets the Infrared treatment
A true original, designed by Tinker Hatfield more than 25 years ago, the Nike Air Trainer 1 is as strong as it ever was.

As with the greater part of the most important inventions, the Nike Air Trainer 1 was born out of a necessity. During the 1980s the number of options of sneaker models was very limited.

There were very specific models and most of them designed to perform and to correspond in just one sports environment. Tinker Hatfield was quite aware of that and that is why he decided to create the Air Trainer 1.

Nike Air Trainer 1: Unlike any other
For starters, the Air Trainer 1 was designed to be a shoe to be worn both at the gym and also at the court. The simple feature of being able to wear shoes on different surfaces was quite a challenge back then.

The Nike Air Trainer 1 appeared as a high cut silhouette, with a lateral outrigger for better stability and support. The model also featured a distinct strap (that it still has nowadays) for increased forefoot lockdown.

An immediate success:
As soon as it was first released, the Nike Air Trainer easily became a favorite model for all sports athletes. After all, it was almost like the first ever shoe that could be worn to practice almost any sport.

Even before its original release, John McEnroe was one of the elite sports professionals to wear the shoe. At the time he even used a prototype of the very first Air Trainer 1.

Later on, McEnroe stated: «It gave the support I needed because I had some difficulty with ankle sprains and it gave me the jump I needed on the court. Sometimes all you need is luck or a good coincidence.»

This Infrared colorway, an Air Max original, is the latest take on the classic sneaker to hit the stores. White, cool grey, cement grey, and black are the colors included in the combination of this iconic Air Trainer.
