Commissioned by Arthur Lasenby Liberty for Liberty & Co. department store and dating to about 1885-1920.
The tables were hand carved in Japanese coastal villages often by local fishermen when they could not fish and were transported to Britain disassembled where they were reassembled and finished in Liberty's Regent Street workshops.

This table is probably ebonized beech and has wear as per photos. (More photos on request).
It has matching, hand engraved, assembly numbers to underside of top and of shelf.
725 MM high.
Top is 535 X 740 MM
