Fabulous Mid-Century Modern, 50s Style, Retro Compact-Sized Coffee Table with Slatted Magazine/Book Shelf

I am continuing my effort to downsize, in advance of all our possessions having to go back into storage again in the next few months (the builders keep changing the dates!)

For Sale here, is a Fabulous Mid-Century Modern, 50s Style, Retro Compact-Sized Coffee Table with Slatted Magazine/Book Shelf

A great chance to purchase a genuine item of mid-century design and manufacture, for not much more than the price of a modern big box flatpack made yesterday!

It’s a lovely retro 50’s style coffee table which is at least 50 years old and probably dates to the 1950’s or 1960’s.

It is the perfect mid-century modern coffee table for apartment living, as it is a nice small compact size suitable for a smaller living space.

But it’s still a useful size, with room for coffee table books or magazines, plus a couple of ornaments/plants etc.
It’s tall enough to rest your coffee cup or lunch on.
It can also become a neat laptop station when working from home, from the sofa!

The table has a quite dark veneer top, and the legs and a slatted magazine shelf are all solid wood which is stained to a matching dark colour.

The piece is in good vintage condition, considering it’s age. The veneer top is in quite good condition apart from some rubbing to the edges and a small surface crack as photographed, but it’s hardly visible. The edges of the table legs have some dings and rubbing as would be expected on a piece of this age. I have left this as is, because the patina adds to the story of this table! One slat from the magazine shelf is broken and missing.
I got as far a procuring a replacement dowel, but never got around to fitting or staining it. But I will give it to the new owner. Once there are books or magazines on the shelf, the missing slat is not obvious!

I’ve pretty much kept this in its original condition apart from cleaning it, but it could be stripped and refinished, but I’ll leave that up to the next owner!! The choice is yours!

The coffee table stands 19.5 inches/50cm tall and measures 30 inches/76cm in length by 16.5 inches/42.5 cm in depth. The magazine shelf is roughly 14 inches/36 cm high.

Collection only, from Dublin 15, due to the size of the piece. Delivery may be possible, at a charge, depending on location and my availability, don't be afraid to ask and if I can facilitate, I will!
