Antique Irish Pine Table Victorian Scullery or Writing Table Rustic Farmhouse
Charming antique Irish vernacular pine table, likely dating from the Victorian period (19th century) and possibly originally used as a small scullery table or writing table.
This is a lovely primitive country piece, made from solid pine and full of character. The table features a single stretcher at the base and a large drawer with internal divider and wooden knob, typical of practical rural furniture.
The drawer is traditionally constructed with hand-cut dovetail joints, a typical feature of 19th century craftsmanship
The scrubbed base has been treated with Tung oil, to protecting the original patina while maintaining a natural matte, water-resistant finish.
The table shows honest wear consistent with its age, which adds to its authentic antique charm. There are historic woodworm marks typical of antique pine furniture, but they are old and no longer active.
An intriguing detail is an old inscription underneath reading “Sr. Paul”, suggesting a past owner and adding further character to the piece.
A very versatile table that works beautifully as:
• side table
• console table
• occasional table
• small writing desk
Perfect for vintage, farmhouse, cottage or rustic interiors.
