Antique Cow Horn Footstool, Four Genuine Horn Legs , Restoration Project

Unusual antique upholstered footstool constructed with four genuine natural cow-horn legs and a timber seat base.

A wonderfully distinctive piece of rustic / folk-art style furniture, believed to date from the late 19th to early 20th century. The stool has a black velvet upholstered top, which appears to be a later covering, with older patterned fabric visible beneath at the underside.

The natural horns have lovely variation in colour and patina and are individually mounted to the timber base.

Condition: Offered exactly as found and requiring restoration. One horn leg has become completely detached but the original horn is present and will be included. There is also cracking/previous repair visible around another horn mounting. Upholstery shows age and wear. Please see photographs, including underside and close-ups, which form part of the description.

I have deliberately not attempted any repair, so the next owner/restorer can assess and conserve it appropriately.
