Vintage French Postcard & Red 10c Stamp
Vintage French Amiens Cathedral Postcard with a Franked 10c Red stamp from the Somme (1906-20 ).
This cherub, with its hand on an hour-glass, symbolizes the brevity of life.
With its elbow resting on a skull, it symbolises death. The Weeping Angel is part of the mausoleum of Guilain Lucas (d1628), a canon. It is the work of Nicolas Blasset. It was a popular postcard sent by soldiers on the Somme during WW.
In very good condition as shown.
