A rare ten 19th-century Great Britain Penny Red "Star" issues (1854–1864), all having Socked-on-the-Nose (SOTN / Bullseye) cancellations.

This lot tracks the London Suburban and District barred oval obliterators, each struck close to dead-center to beautifully frame the alphanumeric codes directly over Queen Victoria’s profile.
The collection features highly desirable, crisp strikes including:
NW / 9: North Western District (Hendon)
W.C. / 1: Western Central District (General Office)
N / 14: Northern District (Finchley)
W / 11: Western District (Notting Hill)
W / 28: Western District (Acton)
S / 19: Southern District (Clapham)
S / 32: Southern District (Norwood)
S.W. / 18: South Western District (Putney)
W.C. / 12: Western Central District sub-office
N / 20 (Inverted Variety): A scarce, clean inverted strike from the Totteridge sorting office.
Early Star Issues: Highly collectible pre-1864 line-engraved varieties featuring the characteristic star ornaments in the upper corners.
A Quality group with flawless, vibrant red color and full perforations is remarkably rare; finding them entirely free of the typical heavy ink smudges of the era makes this a premier set.
