1984 Ireland CIE Railway Stamp First Day Cover (FDC)

CIE Issued a £1 railway letter stamp on 25th June 1984 to commemorate 180 year of Irish Railways. The stamp cost £1.23 (23p vat). First day covers with no valid postage stamp (26p at the time) were prepared but the stamp was withdrawn on the first day because An Post was unhappy with the design. It is unknown how many were sold before withdrawn.

Subsequently they were reissued with the stamp overprinted (understood compromise between CIE & An Post at the time.

Cover addressed to a well known Irish Stamp Dealer at the time. Quantities of such unknown and first time I have seen an example.
