@chriski1971: I now use a Gaggia modified with the added sensors and controller from the Gaggiuino project.

It takes a lot of work and is less convenient (slower heat up, some bugs, no automated steaming, etc), but it lets you nerd out a lot with custom profiling.

@quenching It's 4 years old and used daily a couple times a day. Not so much for the milk frother. Have not had any issues or noticed any deterioration.

The machine automatically prompts for cleaning cycles and descalings (I will include the manual that explains this). Not sure what's the exact frequency for each, but I have done them all when requested by it.
