Sterling silver 1895 William Comyns pin dish
Superb late 19th-century William Comyns sterling silver pin dish, fully hallmarked.
It is heavily decorated with repousse cherubs, floral motifs and scrolling and has a 'vacant cartouche' in the middle for engraving initials etc.
It has a pie-crust rim, which is slightly splayed. There is also a split between the rim and the body at the front middle that's about 6.5 cm long, which could be soldered.
The pin dish is hallmarked on the front with WC for William Comyns, lion passant for sterling silver, leopard head for London assay office and uppercase U for the year 1895.
The dish measures c. 23cm wide and weighs 128g.
