Irenee Rochard bronze tern

This is a beautiful patinated bronze art nouveau sculpture of a tern in mid flight over a realistic and highly detailed ocean wave.It is signed on the bas "I Rochard",by the French decorative sculptor Irènèe Rochard (1906-1984)circa 1930.This is a sculpture of exceptional quality,a great decorative piece on a black marble base.The wingspan of the tern measures 34 inches approx,is 11 inches tall and weighs three stone.(This piece screams quality).Born in 1906,Rochard went on to study at Ècole nationale supèrieure des beaux arts in Paris.He became a member of the society of French artists and won a gold medal at the colonial exhibition in 1931.A number of his works were purchased by the Paris city council and the city of New York.This piece is in beautiful patinated condition and will go on show off it's beauty for another 100 years.The sculpture comes apart in to two segments,as per photos and the tern then rests on top of the wave on reassembly.Thanks for looking,please check out my other ads.
