Henry Mathews Dual Assayed Sterling Silver Cruet Set(1901)
Here is a super matching pair of ornate sterling silver Art Nouveau salts..Both of these were produced by the same silversmith..in the same year..but assayed in different offices..Both are three inches tall..in undented condition and have a combined weight of 62 grams (all unweighted silver)..They were produced in 1901 by Henry Mathews(Victoria Street Birmingham 1896-1909) and were assayed in Chester and Birmingham..He was registered to assay in both offices..To find a matching pair with different registered marks..is quite a novel find and a conversation starter for the new custodian.
