Georgian Old Sheffield Plate 9" Dish
Old Sheffield plating was a Georgian phenomenon..and was a process whereby an ingot of copper and silver were melted together..to give material that could be used for making dinnerware and trays etc..This process came to a demise in 1840 when the much cheaper process of Electroplating was invented..Early Victorian..This piece is carrying pre 1896 marks and has been beautifully decorated and finished. There is no lifting on the piece, which very much leads me to saying that it is early Sheffield Plate,as opposed to being silver plated. The dish is 9" long and weighs 133 grams..OSP is very desirable, rare and very collectible..I am very much pricing this beautiful piece to sell.. Registered post is available for an additional five euro. Thanks for looking please check out my other ads.
