Antique Walker and Hall Silver Plate Fish Knives and Forks. Set of 6 in Fitted Wooden Box

Antique Walker and Hall Silver Plate Fish Knives and Forks. Set of 6 in Fitted Wooden Box Antique Walker and Hall Silver Plate Fish Knives and Forks. Set of 6 in Fitted Wooden Box Silver & Metalware

A handsome antique canteen of fish knives and forks by Walker & Hall of Sheffield, one of the best-known English electroplate manufacturers of the Victorian and Edwardian era.

Each piece has (untested) bone handles with a reeded silver-plated ferrule where the handle meets the blade, and has curved line engraving typical of good-quality Victorian fish flatware. The blades and forks are stamped with "W H" in blackletter script, a crown, and "EP" for Electro Plate Silver. The knives are 9 inches long and the forks are 7.5 inches long.

The set is in its original fitted wooden canteen box. The lid has a small bronze/brass shield-shaped cartouche. The interior is lined in blue baize with fitted divisions for each piece, and the underside of the box has a green baize protective lining.

Condition: The set is in good overall condition for its age. The box shows some surface scuffing, light scratches, and minor wear consistent with genuine age and use; please see photos for full detail, including the state of the interior lining and hinges. The hinges work well and the box closes, although there is no key present. The knives and forks are in good antique condition with no splits or damage.

Please see all photos as part of the description.
