Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Mounted Glass Dressing Table Jar, Haseler Bros, Birmingham 1891
A charming Victorian dressing table pot combining a heavy cut-glass body with a sterling silver mount, hallmarked Birmingham 1891 by Haseler Brothers (Edward John Haseler & Noble Haseler), the Birmingham silversmiths later famous for producing Liberty & Co.'s "Cymric" silverware range.
• Height: 9.5cm
• Hallmarks: Full Birmingham hallmark set for 1891, maker's mark for Haseler Brothers, visible on the rim (see photos)
• Glass: Heavy cut-glass body with a star-cut base, in excellent condition with no chips or cracks
• Silver lid: Hinged cover, engraved to the top with an elaborate script monogram, gilt-washed to the interior
• Inner stopper: Retains its original inner glass stopper, undamaged
• Condition: A couple of small dents to the silver top consistent with age and gentle use
A lovely, well-marked piece of Victorian silver for the collector or for continued use on a dressing table.
