Antique Sterling Silver Topped Sugar Shaker/Sifter, London 1915, Henry Hobson & Sons

Antique Sterling Silver Topped Sugar Shaker/Sifter, London 1915, Henry Hobson & Sons Antique Sterling Silver Topped Sugar Shaker/Sifter, London 1915, Henry Hobson & Sons Silver & Metalware

A charming antique sugar shaker (sugar sifter/caster) with a genuine solid sterling silver screw-on top, hallmarked for London, 1915, by makers Henry Hobson & Sons.

The body is a square-tapered cut glass jar with a star/fan-cut pattern to the base and sides, giving lovely light refraction. The silver lid has the traditional pierced sifting holes and a domed, ringed profile typical of the Edwardian/George V period.

Hallmarks: Lion passant (sterling silver standard), leopard's head (London), date letter for 1915, and maker's mark for Henry Hobson & Sons, all clearly struck and legible (see close-up photo).

Condition: The silver top is in good condition and screws on securely and smoothly. There is some damage to the rim/lip of the glass body (please see photos), which does not affect the fit or function of the lid.

Please review all photos carefully as they form part of the description.

Dimensions: Approx. 5 inches (13cm) tall.

A lovely piece for a collector of antique silver or Edwardian tableware, or for continued practical use.
