Antique Art Nouveau jardiniere by WFM

An Art Nouveau jardinière (table centerpiece) produced at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries (circa 1900) by the renowned German manufacturer WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). Identical models were also distributed by the Viennese firm Albert Köhler & Cie, which worked closely with WMF and utilized its casting molds.
The piece is made of a silver-plated metal alloy (known as Britannia metal or a type of pewter). The dark patina visible in the photograph is a natural result of the silver oxidizing.
The item presented here consists solely of the metal frame (mount). Originally, it would have contained a fitted, thick insert made of clear crystal glass—often featuring cut or frosted decorative elements.
