19th-century English brass candlesticks of the "King of Diamonds" type
A pair of antique brass candlesticks featuring a diamond motif, known as "The King of Diamonds."
These traditional English candlesticks were designed and manufactured in the late 19th century by the renowned firm James Clews & Sons of Birmingham. They were created to mark Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. This entire collectible series was based on playing-card themes and included various sizes—ranging from smaller versions such as the "Diamond Princess" or "Queen of Diamonds" to the tallest candlesticks, designated as the "King of Diamonds." The distinctive model name is sometimes stamped on the base of the pieces.
