The 1995 Godin Acousticaster is a pioneering "hybrid" guitar that combines the ergonomics of a Telecaster with the amplified tone of an acoustic guitar. This specific era is highly regarded for its collaboration with LR Baggs, featuring electronics and internal mechanical components that many players consider superior to later in-house Godin systems.

Key Specifications (1995 Model)

Body: Two-chambered mahogany body with a solid Sitka spruce top.

Neck: Bolt-on maple neck (often featuring birdseye maple on Deluxe/LTD models) with a 25.5" scale length.

Fingerboard: Usually rosewood or maple with 22 frets and a 12" radius.

Bridge: Traditional rosewood acoustic-style bridge.

Electronics: LR Baggs under-saddle transducer (typically the LB6) paired with a custom onboard preamp.

Controls: Top-mounted slider panel for Volume, Treble, Mid, and Bass (3-band active EQ).


Unique Internal "Harp" System [1]

The hallmark of the early Acousticaster is its internal mechanical harp. It consists of 18 tuned metal tines (or prongs) mounted directly under the bridge inside the chambered body.

Function: These tines vibrate in sympathy with the strings, acting like tiny tuning forks to add resonance and a "shimmering" acoustic character that standard piezo pickups often lack.

Tone: This system helps the guitar produce a more organic, "airy" sound, though it is highly sensitive to picking dynamics.

Performance and Playability

Electric Feel: Designed to play like an electric guitar, it typically uses nickel-wound electric strings (e.g., .010s or .011s) and features a slim, fast neck profile.

Amplified Sound: When plugged in, the LR Baggs system is praised for its ability to mimic a full-sized electro-acoustic without the feedback issues common in hollow-body guitars.

Weight: It is exceptionally lightweight (approx. 2.5 kg / 6 lbs), making it ideal for long stage performances.
