Hand-Carved Wooden Snake Walking Stick and Shillelagh
A mid-20th-century hand-carved wooden snake walking stick/ staff.
Carved from a single branch of solid hardwood, it features a detailed snake coiled completely around the central shaft, with open-carved voids between the snake's body and the stick itself. The entire length of the serpent is meticulously textured with hand-gouged scales and the head is fitted with blue glass eyes.
The second item is a vintage traditional blackthorn Irish short stick or shillelagh. It's hand carved from knotty blackthorn with a wonderful texture, patination and colour from age and use. Very good condition.
Selling as a pair.
