Shimano Stella Millennium 4000 SS

There is nothing funny about this—unless it stems from a lack of knowledge; these are the prices collectors pay. You can call and ask how much he paid for the pair a few months ago; he might tell you... +491741641808....... For sale from a private collection: two Shimano Stella Millennium reels—models 2500 SS and 4000 SS—from the year 2000. The reels are unused and come with complete sets of accessories; the 4000 model includes an extra shallow spool and a double handle, while the 2500 model includes a double handle. Each comes with a VHS tape released by Shimano for the Stella Millennium and an original, blank order form—the kind that had to be submitted to the company in 1999 to apply for one of the 2,000 units produced in sizes 1000, 2500, and 4000. Each reel has an owner's card and a handle-mount cap bearing the same name as the card, confirming its authenticity (there were no additional markings on the cases or reels like those sometimes seen on eBay; those are fakes). A unique feature is the serial numbers: 116 for the 4000 model and 1552 for the 2500 model. This indicates that both reels belong to the initial production run of 2,000 units; apparently, after the first batch sold out, the company produced another 2,000 of each model. It is worth noting that the reel cost 80,000 yen—a very substantial sum—and the original owner was entitled to up to four free service inspections per year for ten years. It is also worth remembering that, in addition to a machined handle and a chrome-plated body, a slow spool oscillation system was introduced for the first time.

Only the first 2,000 units were numbered, and they are very expensive. I owned two of them and sold each one for several thousand euros.
