Calibrated & meticulously wired to perfection by one of Europe’s most respected engineers, it offers solid reliability, holds its own — and surpasses — an old, beat-up original fetching €30,000+.

Loaded into a new German case with many original NOS vintage components — including a UREI T4 Cell - with all the original documentation new!), RCA black plate valves. Original UTC iron in & out transformes— this unit delivers that unmistakable Iconic legendary tone.

It will also come with a second New T4 Cell — ‘a new modern copy by Universal Audio’ which I picked up during testing. A different flavour.

I’ve compared this unit to a few now, one being a modern copy by Universal Audio.. I know this one is as close to a true ‘New Old Stock’ UREI as you’ll find anywhere online.
There’s a big sonic difference between UREI units and modern Universal Audio’s versions.

Top Engineers will tell you that the UA versions lack the “Mojo” of the vintage models.

The original UTC transformers used specific steel alloys and lamination stacks that gave them a unique magnetic permeability. This affects how they saturate under load — contributing to that rich, warm golden harmonic bloom when pushed. Winding Techniques: Hand-wound coils with slightly inconsistent tension and layering introduced subtle nonlinearities. These imperfections are part of what gives vintage gear its character — a kind of sonic fingerprint. Solder and wiring: Vintage solder had a higher lead content, and the wire insulation materials used are different.

Modern UA reissues use standardized and RoHS-compliant, meaning no lead in solder, different transformer cores, and more uniform production. They don’t have the same quirky, aged, behavior of the old metals.
