I am still listing some more items after our recent house move and down-sizing.

I’ve quite a few eclectic items of décor which I am not currently displaying, due to colour scheme changes, new space issues etc. They still bring me joy, and I probably would use them in future again, but something needs to go!!!
My plan was to have these items as a mix and match dressing table set, and if they don’t sell, I may go back to that idea!

For Sale here is a Fabulous Pair of Candle Holders and a Display Plate, Hand-Potted by the
Popular and Collectable Irish Potter Suzanne May, Circa 1990’s,

She is a graduate of NCAD where she studied 3-D design with a specialization in Ceramics. She set up Suzanne May Ceramics in 1991, which operated for 11 years. Since then, she has been involved in various design consulting and mentoring roles. Her work is very popular and collectable, and because she only operated for just over 10 years, there is a limited supply of her beautiful pieces.

These two Candle Holders and the matching display plate are glazed in a shades of white and blue in a lovely eggshell-finish glaze and decorated in a semi-abstract floral motifs in blue with yellow/orange highlights. The Candle Holders are designed to take a standard taper candle.

Because these are hand-potted, there are subtle differences in the shape and size of each piece, and the pattern is also unique to each piece, making them extra special.

Both the candle holders and the display plate are in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks crazing or pattern loss, as good as the day they were first hand-potted! The candlesticks have impressed Suzanne May marks on the base, but the plate doesn’t appear to have a mark (probably due to the shape).

The candle holders stand 5 inches/13 cm tall and the base diameters are 3.5 inches/9 cm, with the top diameters slightly smaller. The display plate measures just over 10 inches/26cm in diameter.

Priced and selling as a collection of the three items together. I can separate the plate (€25) from the two candle holders (€40) if required, but the candle holders have to remain as a pair! €10 cheaper to buy them together!

A great chance to purchase a set of Irish designed and made pottery, from a pottery no longer in production. Her limited work is only going to get more rare and difficult to find, so now is your chance to own a small piece of late 20th Century design history.

I also have another couple of Suzanne May items in a similar but different pattern, which I have separated into another ad, but I have always displayed them together as the patterns compliment one another. See the last couple of photos.

Post available for €6, well packed.

Other Vintage, Retro, Mid Century Modern, and Studio Pottery items to follow in the coming weeks!
