Vintage Postcard Archive c.1905 -1959 - Verified Kennedy Family Correspondence, Co Armagh

Vintage Postcard Archive c.1905 -1959 - Verified Kennedy Family Correspondence, Co Armagh Vintage Postcard Archive c.1905 -1959 - Verified Kennedy Family Correspondence, Co Armagh Postcards

A large single-family postcard archive spanning over half a century, almost entirely addressed to the Kennedy family of Corhammock, Markethill, Co. Armagh — principally Maggie (Margaret) Kennedy, with her sisters Jennie and Minnie, and their mother Mrs M. Kennedy also appearing by name.

Matthew Gibson recurs throughout as the household's "care of" address, and a second generation enters later in the run through the Muldrew family at the same townland.

Every name, address and publisher's imprint in this description has been checked directly against the physical cards, not copied from an old inventory list.

The correspondence reaches well beyond the local: a Dublin card from 1944 carries the Irish-language "LÁBAIR" wartime slogan cancel; a card from the Isle of Man carries a genuine Manx Grand Prix race cancel; and real transatlantic emigrant correspondence runs through the archive, including a card posted from California. Closer to home, the network covers Markethill, Armagh, Omagh, Warrenpoint, Lurgan, Monaghan, Poyntzpass and Loughgall, plus Dublin, Glasgow, Portrush, Newcastle Co. Down, Bangor and Southport.

Also included: a comic postcard signed by Cynicus (Martin Anderson, Scotland's pioneering comic-postcard artist); a real-photo postcard of Miss Millie Legarde, a genuine Edwardian stage actress and singer with portraits held in the UK National Portrait Gallery; a confirmed Raphael Tuck & Sons "Oilette" Christmas card; and two intact mechanical novelty cards (a three-panel fold-out comic and a pop-up Enniskillen souvenir booklet).

A genuinely rich social-history archive — real, traceable family correspondence at its core, with several crossover-interest pieces for collectors of motorsport, wartime postal history, or emigrant social history, on top of the family narrative itself.

Mostly real photo and printed postcards, used and unused. General used vintage condition throughout, mixed — please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
