Stunning Art Deco 1930s Platinum 3.1ct Diamond Tank Ring
Here we have a statement peice that will certainly WOW.
This is a heavy diamond cluster ring dating from the 1930s. The ring is set with a geometric design with 3 scrolling, ribbed terminals ending with three collet set diamonds next to a curved panel with a further 9 old cut diamonds within. The diamonds totall just over 3ct and is a dazzling ring.
The design is amazing and is such a lovely chunky piece. The ring is entirely made of platinum.
The ring size is a M1/2 ( US 6 3/4) and could be sized u or down within reason. The ring weighs 10.8g. The top section measures 15.5mm in width.
Tank rings were popular from the mid 1930s until 1950. They were so named after the tanks and machinery of WWII. Family jewels were melted down into single pieces of wearable bold designs and were a means of transporting all your precious gems in one item.
Most tank rings you see are heavy set gold pieces. Platinum, as opposed to gold, tank rings were either crafted prior to the start of WWII in Sept 1939 or after the end of the war in 1945 - never during the war, since platinum was reserved for military purposes. Many tank rings are French in origin, but they were also crafted in Scandinavian countries and Italy.
A stunning and unique ring and once gone, there will not be another I’m afraid.
