Phyllostachys bissetii Bamboo

Phyllostachys bissetii excels at what it does, extremely hardy and tolerant of most conditions. It is one of the freshest looking bamboos at winter’s end – its thickly growing foliage and densely clustered canes are almost completely windproof, thereby making a perfect screening or hedging plant. It is also the most tolerant of drought and doesn’t mind its position but will be a lighter green in a sunny position and lush dark green in the shade.

This is a running bamboo, so allow room for its rhizomes or install a suitable root barrier to contain spread. Expect an eventual height around 6m with a natural spread of about 4m if not contained, making a robust, architectural hedge or screen.

Also is an exceptional plant for massive planters for privacy screening.

I have grown this bamboo in the ground and in pots, it is tall growing and not floppy like some other varieties. It can also be shaped into whater height you want. This is fast growing.
