The dragon tree forms a trunk topped with long, pointed, blue-green leaves, which develop after each flowering. As a result, it adopts an umbrella-like habit and the rather curious appearance of a palm tree with multiple heads. This plant owes its name "blood of the dragon" to the red colour of its sap, known for its medicinal and cosmetic properties.
