Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ is a vigorous, easy-to-grow deciduous shrub celebrated for its huge cone-shaped flower heads and exceptionally long season of interest.
From mid to late summer, it produces enormous lime-green blooms held upright on strong stems that rarely flop, even after rain. As the season progresses, the flowers gradually soften to creamy white before developing beautiful pink and rosy tones in autumn, providing months of changing colour and visual impact.
The foliage consists of fresh green ovate leaves that create a lush backdrop for the dramatic blooms. ‘Limelight’ has a naturally rounded, bushy habit and can grow into a substantial feature shrub if given space.
Unlike many mophead hydrangeas, Hydrangea paniculata ‘Limelight’ flowers reliably on new wood, making it very hardy and dependable even after cold winters. It thrives in full sun or partial shade and performs best in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil.
Pruning is simple—cut stems back in late winter or early spring to encourage strong new growth and larger flower heads.
