Chives - Allium schoenoprasum
Chives in flowe pot. Chives are thin, grass-like, and have a very mild, herbaceous flavor, while spring onions are thicker, with a white bulb at the base and a more pronounced onion flavor. Eatable and can be used for salad (which is what I do). As well possible to grow in open ground soil. No necessary specific requirements.
Chives are a classic perennial kitchen herb from the onion family, smelling and tasting strongly of onion. It has thin green strap-like leaves and purple flower umbels, all edible and used commonly as an ingredient in a wide variety of dishes. Chives have insect-repelling properties and can be planted in gardens to do just that; additionally, it was rated in the top 10 for most nectar production in the UK - your local pollinators will love it.
