Vintage MCM Print The Thatched Cottage Maurice de Vlaminck circa 1925
"La Chaumière" (The Thatched Cottage) created around 1925 by the famous French artist Maurice de Vlaminck
65 cm x 53 cm approximately
This is a well known post Fauvist landscape by M. De Vlaminck behind glass.
It depicts a rural scene featuring a rustic, thatched-roof cottage nestled behind bare, wind-swept trees beneath a dark, brooding, and dramatic stormy sky.
This somber palette, intense mood, and thick, expressive brushwork are textbook hallmarks of Vlaminck's signature late style.
Because "La Chaumière" was immensely popular, high-quality offset lithographs and vintage prints were widely produced throughout the mid-to-late 20th century by major European art publishers (such as Braun et Cie in Paris).
This is a beautifully preserved valuable vintage print in a stunning Mid Century wooden frame with gilt accents.
Unopened but was obviously important enough to be professionally framed by C. Webb Crampton Quay Dublin. Approximately 1960s.
