Vintage Japanese 3D relief depicting a geisha
This three-dimensional relief in an ornate frame depicts a traditional Japanese doll (*ningyō*), most likely crafted using the *Oshie* (or *Kurumie*) technique, in which sections of a silk kimono are cut out, padded with cotton wadding to create volume, and then precisely assembled.
The artwork portrays a geisha (or a young woman from the Edo period) dressed in a richly decorated red brocade kimono featuring gold and floral accents. Handwritten script—an artist's signature or seal (such as a *kakihan* or *kanji*)—is visible on the left side. Such wall decorations, created in the style of three-dimensional shadow boxes, are a classic example of Japanese artistic craftsmanship and are popular as both souvenirs and collector's items
