The air was heavy, the wind from the sea wrestling with the sails. The sun's last pale orange and crimson rays fought the leaden clouds; it felt as if the world were gasping for air.
The waves did more than toss the ship — they struck like frothing fists, pulsing with an ancient force; here and there greenish-yellow lights shimmered in the eddies' depths. The shoreline was only a blurred strip in the distance, like a barely remembered dream.
Standing on deck, the wind and salt spray filled me; it wasn't fear but humility and reverence for nature's power. The painter sought to capture not the sight but the feeling — the weight of the air, the wrath of the waves, the scratches of time, and the spark of hope that can still glow in the deepest darkness.
