Pair of Framed George Stubbs Prints - Family Outing & A Family Group
A matching pair of framed decorative prints after the great English horse painter George Stubbs (1724–1806), in identical ornate gilt-effect frames with textured forest-green mounts and gold-slip title panels.
"Family Outing", known as "The Milbanke and Melbourne Families". Stubbs painted the original in about 1769, and it now hangs in the National Gallery, London. An elegant Georgian family group with carriage, horses and spaniel beneath a great oak. Frame approx. 39 x 33cm.
"A Family Group". Mares and foals at rest beneath a spreading oak, with a grey grazing by a paling fence. Frame approx. 38 x 32cm.
Stubbs is regarded as the finest horse painter in British art. Both are glazed, with cord hangers, ready to hang, and make a smart pair for a country home, tack room, study or gallery wall.
