This piece features Houston’s classic atmospheric style, showcasing the historic castle perched on a rocky headland overlooking a coastal cove. It is signed by the artist in the lower-left corner.

Beyond his celebrated fine art career, Robert Houston was a noted designer of iconic vintage travel and railway posters during the Art Deco era. His bold sense of composition and dramatic use of landscape lighting made his work highly sought after by major twentieth-century transport companies, and his original posters are now highly collectible. That same graphic power and atmospheric eye are beautifully evident in this original piece.

Provenance & Framing:
The back of the frame retains its original gallery label from The Art Cellar (L. J. Brown & Co.), formerly located at 45A Hanover Street, Edinburgh, which adds excellent authenticity and historical charm. The piece comes double-matted and housed in a classic black frame.
