Delaval, nom de plume of a well known commercial artist, was born in Eastbourne in 1933, moving with his parents to Dorset where he attended Dorchester Grammar School before obtaining his Degree at Cambridge. With his academic education complete he next attended the College of Art at Bournemouth qual fying in Painting and Lithography.
After serving a commission in the Army he settled eventually in Dorset where he now lives with his wife and four children, making frequent visits to Cornwall where he produces such clean appealing studies as that illustrated here.
Many of his works have appeared as historical murals in Museums and at historical festivals. His main hobby is sailing - he has sailed in the Fastnet race and a study of the history of the sea.
