charles cullen Irish warrior 1970

Title:
Charles Cullen (Aosdána) Large Original 1970 Signed Mixed Media – "Irish Warrior" – Gallery Provenance
Description:

Offering a rare opportunity to acquire a substantial, early-period original charcoal, wash, and ink drawing by the highly acclaimed Irish fine artist Charles Cullen (born 1939, Member of Aosdána).
Dated 1970, this striking monochromatic artwork represents a highly sought-after era of Cullen’s career. The composition draws heavily on epic ancient Irish history and folklore, capturing a powerful, atmospheric landscape featuring a tall Irish warrior holding a shield with an intricately detailed, circular triskele spiral design. Walking directly alongside him through the mountainous terrain is a beautifully stylized companion horse.
Cullen was a founding member of Dublin’s Project Arts Centre (1966) and the former Head of Painting at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD). His works are proudly held in premier national institutions, including the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) and the Hugh Lane Gallery.
This is a reluctant sale. I absolute love the image and am in no rush to sell, so lowball offers will be ignored.
