First published in book form by Eyre & Spottiswoode in 1929, the full collection contains 20 charming, two-tone crayon illustrations following the comical antics of Aldin's own real-life pets—a white Bull Terrier named Cracker and an Irish Wolfhound named Micky—as they constantly wrestle and maneuver to share a single studio sofa. Each plate in the sequence is accompanied by a simple, one-word caption reflecting their situational pose (such as "Toleration", "Separation", "Amalgamation" "Resignation", "Probation", "Supplication" and "Reconciliation".
