The airbrushing and graphic techniques pioneered during the 1973 Pirelli studio sessions directly shaped music history. Later that same year, Brian Duffy and Philip Castle reunited to apply these exact visual styles to shoot and design David Bowie’s iconic Aladdin Sane album cover artwork—often dubbed the "Mona Lisa of Pop".

The 1973 Pirelli Calendar is widely celebrated as one of the most culturally significant, visually radical, and controversial editions in the calendar's history.
Shot in London, England, it marked a dramatic departure from the calendar's traditional sun-drenched beach imagery, shifting instead into a highly stylized, avant-garde pop-art and fetish fantasy.

Brian Duffy (Photographer): One of the defining photographers of "Swinging Sixties" London. This was his second of three historic commissions for Pirelli.

Allen Jones (Pop Artist): Celebrated for his provocative, boundary-pushing sculptures exploring female forms and fetishism, Jones drove the calendar's graphic concepts.

Philip Castle (Airbrush Artist): Famous for his sleek, hyper-real airbrush art, Castle overlaid the photography with surreal illustrative graphics.
