Vintage 1970s Professional Indian Bayan Tabla Provenance: Survival Studios Acton London

A rare find with incredible musical heritage. This 1970s professional-grade Bayan (bass tabla drum) was acquired from the legendary Survival Studios in Acton, London in the 80s/90s.

Survival Studios was the heartbeat of the West London music scene, used by icons like The Clash, The Darkness, and Genesis. This instrument was left behind by a session musician and has remained in my family (who owned the adjacent drum store) ever since.

Era: Circa 1970s, hand-crafted in India.

Construction: Body: 1.5kg professional-grade Steel shell). traditional leather skin and tension bracing.

Condition: Authentic, unrestored vintage condition. The "shahi" (black tuning paste) is remarkably well-preserved for its age.
