The steering rack is connected to the wheel via this Track Rod. It mounts to the hub via the track rod end.

Often any impact to the wheel, be it from severe potholes, kerb's, or accidents then the Track Rod will take the brunt of the impact, resulting in bending or breaking!

Also sever corrosion at the track rod end will result in the Track Rod being damaged when trying to remove the Track Rod End.

If a Track Rod is bent it is recommended NEVER to try to straighten it as the strength of the part will be greatly compromised
